Viva La Vida 2016 - Amor Eterno Dia de Los Muertos Festival

Last year was the preimiere of Viva La Vida, a new event produced by Noches de Altares-veteran co-producer, Rudy Cordova. In its inauguraul year, this event already achieved status as one of the best cultural events of the year to look forward to. Kilson Streets' homegrown music, altars in the trunks of low-riders, moody lighting and a gorgeous backdrop (the Santa Ana Regional Tranist Center) make this event the can't miss Muertos event of the year.

Book of Life: OC FiIm Fiesta, Heritage Museum Free Screening

The OC Film Fiesta, Heritage Museum of OC and The Giving Web have teamed up for a special FREE Dia de los Muertos celebration featuring hourly sugar skull and altar building workshops and a special 8pm screening of Jorge Gutierrez's modern animated classic, The Book of Life, under the stars on the Heritage Museum's gazebo lawn.

This Day of the Dead program is presented in Spanish featuring stories, a traditional altar, and calaveritas.  Bring a photo of a family member or friend to honor on the altar.

Dia De Los Muertos Concert

The Segerstrom Center for the Arts has assembled a world-class evening of their Dia de Los Muertos Concert. Artists include a former Leonard Cohen back-up singer, Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter PERLA BATALLA. There's QUETZAL, continuing the legacy of over 70 years of Chicano Rock. These East Side musicians created a path that has earned them the title of “one of Los Angeles’ most important bands” (LA Times). PACIFICO DANCE COMPANY is a 40-person dance troupe dedicated to the preservation and reconstruction of classical and contemporary Mexican dance forms. LA SANTA CECILIA started their career serenading on the corners of Downtown L.A.’s Olvera Street. They are a musical phenomenon who have won a Grammy, toured coast to coast, collaborated with Elvis Costello, appeared on Conan, and most recently shared the stage with Led Zeppelin’s John Paul Jones. ​

14th Annual Noche de Altares: Santa Ana's Dia de los Muertos

The largest. The best. El Centro Cultural de Mexico organizes Santa Ana's most beautiful festival during the first Saturday Artwalk. Noche e Altares is wrought with cultural performance, altars and street foods. This event is incredibly popular, so please consider taking public transportation, taxi or ride share.

Festival: Mexican Day of the Dead

The Bowers invites you to watch a cornucopia of cultural acts from the Mariachi Kids to Las Estrellas Folklorico of the Orange County School of the Arts, Aztec dancers and more. Beyond dazzling performances, there's interactive fun including sugar skull decorating, calavera mask-making, Mexican hot chocolate and the opportunity to honor the dead with an ofrenda (memorial offering). Sponsored by the Nicholas Endowment.

Local Arts Non-profits Have a Chance at $125,000

The City of Santa Ana needs your help fulfilling objectives from their Strategic Plan. Please apply for your current programming or if you have plans to start a program that impacts Santa Ana residents' quality of life and well-being.

The
Community Enhancement Program Grant (CEPG) is a competitive grant available online now and due on November 7th, 2016. You must be a 501 c(3) non-profit in order to apply for this grant, which will be awarded in amounts up to $125,000. 

This process is going to be lightning fast with grants going before the City Council for final approval this December. Does anyone wants to host a grant-writing party? Your Application for the grant is due November 7th, 2016.
